TECHNOLOGY

The project was started in 2008 and enables ChapDrive to test a rebuilt NM52-900 kW wind turbine equipped with ChapDrive hydraulic transmission and ChapDrive variable speed control.

The project builds on the results achieved on the ChapDrive 225 kW tests and is the next step in the up-scaling and verification of the technology to commercial size.

The turbine was erected in 2008 and modified in the first quarter of 2009. Field test with the turbine started in June 2009 and the test and verification programme was completed in 2010.

The turbine operates as a commercial wind turbine. All data from 200 sampling points are collected with a frequency of 10 per second used in the continuous optimisation and development of the ChapDrive technology.
