ChapDrive has started a new project based on the latest developed integrated hydraulic drivetrain solution. The strong integration with the main structure of the wind turbine, the high power density of the hydraulic transmission and fewer critical components creates a powerful combination. It provides the lowest top weight and an excellent opportunity to make multi-megawatt wind turbines without adding excess cost.
Phase 1 in the project will enable ChapDrive to verify the new ChapDrive Control System and the newest high efficiency hydraulic motor design with digital valve technology in the 225 kW ChapDrive prototype wind turbine.
Phase 2 involves the design, development and test of a 3 MW integrated hydraulic transmission prototype.
The project was started in August 2011 and will continue throughout 2013.
